One Wednesday night I was being a rebel and instead of going to Crossroads, I went on a date. We went to see Captain America the Winter Soldier. I’m not that much of a fan of Captain America, but this movie was great. I think the reason why I didn’t care so much for the first film is that it takes place during World War II. It might also have something to do with watching The Avengers first and then Captain America. All those feelings aside I actually did want to see this film.
The movie was good and kept me on the edge of my seat. I will warn you now that this post is about to get rated “S” for Spoilers. Sorry, but I can’t talk about a movie without accidently spoiling it. I don’t mean to do it, it just happens.
That scene with Hydra going after Nick Fury was just awesome. Right when you think he’s done for, he isn’t. I kept telling myself that it couldn’t be that easy. This is Nick Fury we’re talking about. As Tony Stark would say, “his secrets have secrets.” When the Winter Soldier took out his car I thought that was it, but he still managed to get away.
Then there was the whole reveal of Hydra at S.H.I.E.L.D. When the top notches of S.H.I.E.L.D. were at that meeting, I kept saying to myself, “Come on. This is S.H.I.E.L.D. and they’re above everyone. They’ve got to have some sort of skills to be where they are.” When the female started to kick butt I thought, “There we go!” Only it turns out to be Black Widow. It was still a good scene.
What really had me on edge was the fight between Cap and the Winter Soldier. He was so close to transmitting the signal so many times, and each time he got pulled away. He’s finally able to do it without the Winter Soldier interfering, but his wounds cause him too much pain. The main thing I wanted from this movie was for Bucky to live. He can’t die yet, he needs to be saved. I knew Captain America wouldn’t die, because he’s going to be in The Avengers 2. It was nice to see how he would be saved. Only I wish Bucky would have stayed to get answers.
Another scene that I was stoked about seeing is the mid-credit scene. I heard Scarlet Witch would make a cameo appearance along with her brother, so that made this movie even more interesting to see. When it was over I turned to my boyfriend and go, “Do you know who they are?” He didn’t have a clue so I informed him. The people sitting a few rows in front of us were talking about the twins too. I heard one of them say, “Wait, Magneto’s children? So they’re bringing the X-Men in this? How are they going to do that, aren’t they D.C? So are they going to have some sort of D.C vs. Marvel?” They started discussing this possibility more and I can’t help but laugh.
Me- “Do you hear what they’re saying?”
Me- “They just said that X-Men is D.C, it’s Marvel.”
Him- Starts listening to them. “Guys!” They all turn to look at us. “The X-Men is Marvel.”
Then we started talking to them about the movie. It was nice. I didn’t expect my boyfriend to speak up when he did, but we had a nice conversation with them. I got to share my nerdy side!
