This year’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view was my first Hell in a Cell to watch live. Only I didn’t exactly get to watch it live. I finally got the chance to watch the PPV the Wednesday after. A friend was kind enough to let me borrow his laptop and watch the WWE Network. I was very grateful for this because I’ve been off the grid for days. The only match I was looking forward to was the Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins Hell in a Cell.
Since I couldn’t watch the PPV when it aired and I wanted to see that match, I didn’t watch RAW nor did I log onto social media. I didn’t want any spoilers at all. The one time I did log onto social media, I regretted it. I’m sitting there, scrolling through my news feed and find a WWE Meme with Chris Benoit in it. I stopped and looked at it, because any meme with Chris Benoit in it is interesting to see. I see the lights are out in an arena and a lantern in the middle of the ring. There’s smoke and Chris Benoit’s face. I didn’t understand what the joke was, mostly because I didn’t know what was going on in the meme. I look closely and see that it is in a Hell in a Cell and Bray Wyatt’s fireflies. I also see Dean in the ring and immediately looked away. “OH! MY EYES! MY EYES!” So Bray Wyatt interferes in the match somehow.
The PPV was great, although I’m not so thrilled about the Divas Championship match. That could have been a lot better than what it was. I was blown away when I saw the match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins was actually the big main event. The WWE Universe thought that the main event would be Randy Orton vs. John Cena, they even made memes about it. For once WWE gave the people what they wanted.
This year’s Hell in a Cell proved that there should only be one Hell in a Cell match and not two. That Hell in a Cell match between John Cena and Randy Orton was boring. I don’t see how anyone would say that it was the best match of the night because it wasn’t. When I hear that there will be a Hell in a Cell match, I expect there to be chaos. Given the history of this stipulation, there’s bound to be a lot of action and a lot of chaos. Randy Orton and John Cena just didn’t bring it. There were a few good spots in the match, like when Orton reversed the Attitude Adjustment into an RKO, but that wasn’t enough. Then again, how good can a match be when everybody knows who is going to win?
Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins Hell in a Cell lived up to its history. Dean Ambrose walks out there with a kendo stick on his back, he pulls out everything he could find under the ring, and then shouts out “We’re all gonna die tonight,” before climbing up to the top of the cell. You already know that this is going to be an awesome match.
Seth Rolllins goes out there, commanding that Dean climbs down from the top of the cell and then sends his stooges up there to get Dean. So much happens on the top of the cell and then wham! Dean and Seth fall through both announce tables. I admit that I saw that coming and glad that it did. Both men get put on stretchers and the best part, THE MATCH DIDN’T EVEN START! Dean gets out of his restraints and gets Seth out of his. The two enter the cell and the match begins.
It was a great match. It may have been a little one sided but Seth Rollins pulled through his beat down. As I watched it I started thinking to myself, “Maybe the meme wasn’t what I thought it was.” Then we see Dean pull out these cinder blocks from underneath the ring and he’s gonna go for it. Although, how much damage could he really do compared to how much was done to him. You’ve got a pile of cinder blocks vs. two. Anyway, Dean sets up to Curb Stomp Seth’s head into the cinder blocks and… the screen goes blank. I thought it was the computer I was watching it on, because there was several times where it would just freeze. So I start to get frustrated but I hear Cole is still talking. Then Bray Wyatt’s creepy voice is heard and the lights come on. He had the nerve to interfere in the match.
All I have to say is, “Screw you Bray Wyatt. Screw you.” I like how they have changed the focus of both Dean and Seth to start feuding with other people but still left the door open for Dean and Seth to feud in the future. I don’t know how Dean vs. Bray will play out but I’m going to miss Dean vs. Seth matches for the time being. Now I am back to square one and that is, me sitting here waiting for Roman Reigns to return. #StupidHernia!
Bravo Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose for a job well done. Your Hell in a Cell match is definitely match of the night and paid a good homage to Undertaker vs. Mick Foley oh so many years ago. As for Randy Orton and John Cena, your match sucked as a Hell in a Cell match. You’re not the first to do it, but there is so much more you could have done in that match.
